Hi Flora,

Great thread starter. I'm also looking for making a start on this. Been investing in Dallas but want to move out as well. Let me know if you want to brainstorm together. I also want to go over to the Milwaukee/Chicago area next month, so let me know if you are interested, just PM me.

Hi Willie, very hard story, but thanks for sharing out here. I am really looking for a partner to learn and grow with and just be face to face with someone, but i'm based in Houston, so guess I cannot. Wish you all the best.

Hi To Mike from CCB

I have also done some research and was very interested in the $1 option where you charge a rate of 9% on the amount that is secured. Since I have a score of above 700, I think I qualify for this option. My question is this: Would you still provide support on how to liquidate the instalment that is granted. I know you provide a lot of support for the $3500 option, but what about the $1 option? What are all the elements of support or mentorship you provide under this deal?

Thanks to all the replies.

@Pat G. @Richard D.Yes, I was just chasing tax savings, but as you say, I am starting really small, so I think I'm going to stay in state.

@Blair Poelman Thanks Blair. I have one person who I know in my town who has an LLC in state, so will just follow their steps as they have a few properties on passive RE.

@Tatum F.@Jai Reddy Thanks guys. I will contact the SBA as they are on the other side of town but have an office where I can go and talk to them about it. I will also check up LegalZoom.

Thanks to all of you - always so good to know I have mentors right here on BP. I really appreciate your time.

Hi there,

I am interested in getting passive income via real estate, ie. buying to rent. Nothing spectacular, just to make a start with some money that I've saved up. I read a few articles about opening an LLC in states like Delaware, Nevada and Wyoming as opposed to your home state.

I am based in Texas and initially look to start here, but perhaps later on to move out of state. I don't foresee excessive properties at this stage at all; so 2 questions I have:

1) Is it better to set up in Texas rather than out of state to minimise taxes and also ease of paperwork/etc.

2) Can I form an LLC myself, using the state website? I see a filing fee of $300, but some companies charge up to $1200 to help set up? Can we do this ourselves?

Thanks

Sean

Hi all,

I am new to this whole area of RE and am learning so much in the last few weeks about tax liens/deeds and wholesaling. These are the areas I would really love to learn on and am going through websites, this forum and webinars.

It would be really good if there ia anyone locally who is also starting out and those who are well established, if you could please make contact; I am willing to learn and put the hard yards in. I do not have a full time job at the moment and am willing to do all the hours and take all the effort.

I hope to start a new life in this field.

Thanks

Sean

Hi,

My continued education is taking me to attend this 3 hour conference by the US tax lien association in Houston this coming Saturday.

Hoping to meet anyone like me who is looking to learn and who I can "hold hands with" to learn together?

Thanks

Sean
