Hello everyone,

I know this is a strange question but I am in an interesting predicament and would love others' opinion. I currently own a rental property that is bringing in consistent cash flow. It is however nearing its 27.5 yr depreciation lifespan. I am debating whether it is still worthy to keep renting it out after that point or should I 1031 exchange it etc. FYI the mortgage is already paid off on this property.

Thank you for everyone's input. I appreciate the train noise situation as that is a deal breaker for us. Looks like East is the way to go for most people it seems despite the cost. It's too bad because west tends to be cooler in the summer I am told (though more rainy) and that is a huge plus for me and my wife.

Thx Dave for that. I've been told that as well. Can you be more specific ? Is it due to more rainfall ? Just more seedy with drug problems ? etc

Hello everyone,

I posted below on an introductions section and realized it would be more appropriate here lol. 

I am a newbie investor looking to buy a summer home in the cascade Mts (in Washington) that can be used as STR during our vacancy. Wife (i.e the boss) and I are exploring mountainous towns in the cascade mountains and would like some inputs from the locals to explain the difference between west (i.e. Gold Bar, Skykomish) vs. east of stevens pass (leavenworth, lake wenatchee) ? Looks to me like leavenworth is very touristy, which is opposite of what we want. I am from out of town and do not know these areas in detail but am told that east rains less than west for example ? Can some locals confirm this ? Any other difference would be appreciated such as desirability, crime, rentability, amenities etc

Hi everyone I am so happy I stumbled on this thread as my wife and I are exploring to find a place to invest in and eventually retired in. We are quite interested the mt Olympic Peninsula region. Usually when I do the search, sequim and port townsend come up a lot but I was wondering if the locals can shed some light on other towns around the peninsula that have more mountain/lake town feel (i.e cabins ?). If anyone knows so Cal well, we are looking for something similar to Big Bear lake or lake arrowhead but in WA area. 

Hello Brandon, congratulations on this property. I am also looking invest near the olympic peninsula but prefer a more mountainy-feel towns (i.e cabins etc). Can you share your thoughts ? It seems like sequim and port angeles are more port towns rather than mountain towns ?
