Quote from @Caroline Gerardo:

Is it condo or has health and safety violations? Does the lender say in writing that they can close FHA guaranteed? If there is something that the appraisal will uncover then you might lose your EMD.

Its not a condo but definitely has a ton of issues since it's a 1910 building. We just negotiated to a figure which we thought could make sense to buy as is and then go ahead to put in some sweat equity. I am a first time home buyer, may be I shouldn't be going for a property this old

We just made an offer and the seller brought up the financing issue so he hasn't accepted the offer yet. He doesn't give a reason for not accepting FHA. Its a pretty old duplex with so much to fix and so I think he probably knows it won't go past the FHA appraisal

I have been interested in purchasing a certain duplex in my area and even made an offer on it. My lender had mentioned that I might be able to get a 5% down conventional loan. Upon underwriting it turned out that I make a little more than the threshold of qualifying for that kind of financing. I'm now required to put 15% down which is beyond my current budget. I definitely qualify for FHA loan but the seller is only doing cash or conventional. Do I still have a shot on this property in matters financing? I'll appreciate if anyone knows of a possible route to take

Hey guys, I live in Federal way, king county and would be willing to travel 30mins either North or South when we get a venue. Hope we bring this meet up into fruition
