Hi Arien, Yes I would love to travel more of the Philippines. I've been to Laguna actually (Alaminos near San Pablos/Calamba), as well as much of Northern Luzon and a week in Palawan.

The Philippines is a beautiful country and the people are great.

It is possible to own land as a foreigner, but you need to either do it via a company or through a mortgage against the land. It's also possible to own a condo, but this is probably only suitable within Metro Manila.

Our firm caters to USA, Hong Kong, Singapore, Europe; not so much the Philippines. Having said that, being Philippines owned I'm sure the partners can assist with Philippines matters. One of the partners actually has quite extensive experience within the real estate industry and worked as an auditor for several years. Do you have a specific query? Feel free to send me a message and I'll pass it on to the partner.

Thanks @Linda Weygant. Actually I'm just as interested in the US tax system and how it relates to real estate. We don't do the tax for our clients but we prepare financial statements and management reports, handle leases and stuff - so the more I understand about real estate the better I can do my job... and the more I read and learn the more my mind starts dreaming about my own investments - especially when looking at the financial statements; the numbers don't lie, it's a good business to be in; but you have got to know what you're doing, read some books and understand the industry.

I've heard Cebu is really nice @Dave Visaya. I've never been there but I'd love to visit sometimes. Especially Oslob for the whale sharks.

I live in Pangasinan but I work in Pampanga. Currently I'm staying 3 nights a week in Pampanga and 4 nights in Pangasinan. I'm thinking of investing in some land but not sure whether near to my home or near to my work.

I think land in Pampanga will definitely increase in value with the upcoming Clark Green City development, but you get a lot more bang for your buck in Pangasinan - especially if you can get land through foreclosure.

I take it you're from the Visayas, @Dave Visaya? Where exactly?

Hello all. I have just joined this forum as I have recently moved from England to the Philippines and have started working for an accountancy company here that services mainly USA businesses.

I have been assigned to clients within the real estate industry. We handle all accounting functions from A/R and A/P to producing financial statements. We also assist with cash flow forecasting and analyzing potential investment opportunities.

I am excited to be working in this industry and looking forward to learning a lot from the forum. I have already listened to several podcasts and read the beginner's guide book.

Once settled into my job and familiar with the industry I'd love to have my own investments either here in the Philippines or back home in England.
