I'm not on a lease at all, though I did put down a deposit and do want to remain on good terms with the rest of my roommates.. so I'm planning on giving notice.

They actually want to kick him out too, but my head roommate got sued by the last person they had leave and she doesn't want to get a disability lawsuit, that's what she said.

the head roommate is actually the daughter of the official tenant (who doesn't live on site). I have no contact with him and have absolutely no way of knowing who the landlord is.

I've pretty much decided to move, but wanted to know if there were any options I just hadn't been aware of. It doesn't make a difference that I was completely uninformed that I'd be living with a schizophrenic, does it?

I'm not a landlord, just the newest tenant in a roommate situation with 4 other people near college. One of my roommates is schizophrenic and has been targeting his anger at me, having delusions that we get into violent fights and that I steal from him and stuff. He's very anti-social and the 'head roommate' wants to kick him out, but is too worried about getting a discrimination lawsuit... so they expect me to just put up with his hostility or leave.

I get along with everyone else in the house, I pay my rent and am very considerate. I was not told that I would be living with a schizophrenic roommate when I moved in. I feel this situation is very unfair but have no idea how to proceed. I am worried for my safety but he hasn't done anything physical yet. I really don't want to wait for it to happen and I don't think he's on any sort of meds.

The rental situation in my area is pretty poor, almost everything is out of my price range and I love everything else about my household, but I'm already considering just biting the bullet and moving out because they're unwilling to deal with him. Any advice?
