@Paul Timmins thanks for letting me know. Unfortunately I'll have to miss this month's as I am in RE classes right now so that I can get my license and I have class this Thursday from 6-10. :(

Hi @Justin Boudreaux

I live in Georgia, and it is a requirement here to take the classes as well. I just recently started my classes (last Thursday matter of fact) so that I can get licensed. Like you, I too have very limited RE knowledge. I am really enjoying my class so far. What I like the most about my class is that the instructor is a RE professional as well and not only does she give us answers so that we can pass the exam, she also gives us real world examples for when we begin practicing. I am taking classes with Barney Fletcher. I highly recommend you take classes somewhere. I feel like I am starting to be able to speak the language of RE now and as with any profession, that's always important. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the welcome @Brandon Turner @David T. !...@Andrew

@Andrew Cordle such great information, thanks so much for sharing! Like @Andy Bankston I will also be sending you a colleague request, as I'd love to learn more about this RE group. You are correct: my plan was to start in residential so that I could raise some capital and then be able to invest in commercial. I have heard from a couple of sources however, that it may serve me best to just jump into commercial. I am a bit nervous about that, however, since I am so new to RE and am not sure how that process really works.

Thanks so much for the warm welcome, everyone! @Tim Fergus you're right, I will have a lot of interesting perspectives and tools at my disposal as it pertains to RE due to my job. I have been advised to check out GA REIA by a couple of my colleagues and now you, so I will definitely check them out...Thanks for the heads up on the podcasts @Matthew Cavano !... Thanks for welcoming me, @Ramon Jenkins and @Monty Alston

Hello Everyone!

My name is Shirlynn Brownell and I'm very excited to get started networking and learning on BiggerPockets.com.... I am a Project Analyst at the GA Department of Economic Development. As an agency we are responsible for attracting new business and revenue to the state as well as supporting existing industries....As of this moment, I have no background in real estate. I am currently taking classes with Barney Fletcher and will be taking my state license exam the first week in July. I want to start off in residential sales to build income, and within a year move into commercial. I eventually want to get into the investment side of commercial RE, but am still learning how all of that works since I am so new to RE altogether. I am in the process of getting a promotion at work which will make me a Project Manager in what is basically my Agency's Commercial RE Department. So it would be a great opportunity for me to build connections and learn as much as I can about this business... I found out about Bigger Pockets via someone I follow on Twitter.
