 Hey Kurt!

Thank you for the welcome and I hope your move went smoothly!  Thank you on behalf of my boyfriend for the well wishes. :) I am signed up on meetup and am actively looking for a group.  Have a great week!

Hi Shelby, welcome!

You mentioned you don't come from money -- A lot of people including myself did not, If you're a hustler thats just fine. Also, You don't really have to spend on education with Real Estate. You are more than welcome to subscribe to Pro but I would recommend you watch videos on Youtube and listen to the BiggerPockets podcast first. All 100% FREE.

I passively listen to the podcast while working out at the GYM, it's VERY educational and I've learned a lot from it. The money I spend on education is usually on books. I don't pay mentors as well.

Hi David,

Thanks for the welcome!  Those are awesome suggestions.  I have been listening to the podcast and love it.  I discovered it over the weekend on a five hour road trip -- it made the trip go by so much faster and I learned so much that I am resolving to listen to it daily.  Have a great week!

I'm a physical therapist currently but love emergency medicine/response. So once my wife and I achieve financial independence I might go back and become a paramedic! Lol tell me if I'm crazy or would you consider that as well just for the love of it?

If you are doing it solely for the love of it, I definitely say go for it! I love EMS and will never let my license lapse. Once I get going in REI and have some real income coming in, I would love to work per diem even just a weekend or two a month. There is no greater feeling than helping someone on their worst day. Feel free to ask me any questions you may have about it.

Hi Rich!

Thank you for replying.  I see you're in Fountain Valley -- I'm very close to there, nice to hear from a neighbor!  I will definitely look into the Edwards AFB area.  Have a great week!

Hey Dwagne!

Thank you for your response!  I'm definitely considering going pro and will probably do so this week!  Thankfully, my boyfriend knows and is supportive, I told him if I have to stick out years of medical school, he's going to have to stick some of this out, ha.  Tampa is a beautiful place!  I lived there for a couple of years awhile ago and, while I can't complain too much in California, miss the endless Florida summer and the whole area.  Enjoy your week!

Hi there,

My name is Shelby and I am new to the forum.  I am a 26 year old Paramedic looking to transition into real estate investing.  I have left the field and recently starting working as an assistant for a prominent Orange County real estate agent.  As much as I love EMS, it doesn't pay the bills (at least not here), and I have always been fascinated by homes, flipping, selling, designing, etc.  Additionally, my boyfriend will be applying to medical schools soon, and I am anxious to start my career in real estate investing to hopefully be able to support both of us and hopefully start a family at some point, something that would never happen if I continue to work as a medic while he's in school.

I live in southern California, but am considering attempting to invest in my first properties in Vegas, as it is an easy drive from here and considerably more affordable for a first venture.  My main interests are flipping until I generate enough cash to dive into rentals as well.  I am also interested in wholesaling, but find myself wrestling with the ethics of it, and hope to learn more about that here.

I am very much still in the learning phase, and I am trying to learn as much as I can about how to get into this.  I do not come from money and do not have a lot to work with, although I will be receiving a decent amount soon from a settlement, and want to learn how to make that work for me in this field, instead of just watching it get spent away.  Although I am trying to learn as much as I can, I do not want to get stuck in the trap of reading forever without taking actionable steps, and I feel I am at the point where I am ready to dip my toe in the water.

If you've made it this far (sorry, I didn't mean to write a book), thank you and I look forward to interacting with you all!
