Thank you everyone for the feedback and thoughtful advice. I decided not to go with the mentor based on different aspects you all pointed out. After reading the responses I called the company back and asked if they would allow me to pay $1k/month or all earnings from the first properties to ensure they had the incentive to really help me and they only want the full $12k up front. I also asked if I could go out with the coach when they are going to work on one of their properties since I live in the area of their company and again, the answer was no. Personally I think investing $12k into a good education is worth it IF it is GOOD education with a great hands-on mentor. I will continue to learn from this group, read books, and work toward my first property.  Thanks again for taking the time to respond.

Thanks for the fast reply Chris. It's not the personal trainer type motivation I need in a mentor, it is a step by step process for how to close my first few deals successfully to gain the confidence to do it myself.

Hey fellow BPers, I'm new to BP and to real estate. I had a discussion today with a mentor from the Doug Hopkins real estate program and they have a mentorship program where for one year I will have weekly calls with a coach that will walk me through getting 6-8 deals in that year. I then have access to that mentor after a year whenever I need help. The cost of the program is $12k, which if the help is legit could be made on a single deal. Does anyone have any  experience with this mentorship program or have any advice on whether I should sign up?  Thanks in advance for your response.
