Post: Vermont Tenant Friendly or not?

Hi all, I'm an investor over here in NH and I'm looking for larger multis, under 30 units right now. I have a 8 unit under contract and that's about all I can find that's big enough and still cash flows decently with a value add component. I have started to look into VT, specifically Springfield as there is a decent inventory with properties that seem to cash flow. I don't know much about VT Landlord tenant laws but another investor told me to stay away from VT as they are incredibly tenant friendly. Also, does anyone have any input on Springfield as a market to invest in?

Thanks for any input!

Hey, just seeing if the meeting is still on and how many are attending, thinking of coming up from Hopkinton NH.

Good response Ann, I have been focused on finding someone local but it makes sense to find the best accountant for what we are looking for. I figured it would be easier having someone local, but you are right, how often am I really going to see them.

Thanks for the info Matt, maybe I can talk to you more about it at next months REIA meeting. As far as rents go, what do you see 3 and 4 bedroom units renting for? The Pittsfield market still intrigues me, just need to do more market research on it before pulling the trigger on a multi.

Im looking into the Pittsfield NH market, the numbers seem solid and the properties cash flow well. I toured a duplex last week and as I drove through the town, it seemed run down but it has great proximity to concord. Anyone on here own rentals in Pittsfield and can add further insight to the tenants in town? To me, it seems much riskier but with risk comes great returns. Just don't know much about the tenant base.

Now that I am acquiring more rental properties I'm in need of a solid CPA around the Concord area. Anyone have someone they recommend?
