Hey I wanted to let you all know that I just spoke with Nick Vertucci's group and they offered to give me all my money back!!! They were so nice. I have to say that they have integrity to do that! I'm taking it!

Thanks everyone for the encouragement. I am not upset with them. I am moving on. I'm an investor and I am going to take some losses. I am looking forward to gaining knowledge, making friends with fellow investors and investing in cheap properties! As my husband says, "Let's do this!"

Hey Gregg.

I know I cannot get my deposit back. I don't want to put down the guru. It is Nick Vertucci Real Estate Academy. His group told me about BiggerPockets. But since I went on this site, I have found free knowledge. more than I was getting through NVREA. I was hearing so many things about what the gurus do and so far NVREA does everything that this site says that the gurus will say to scam you. I am on their FB forum and it is good to see people doing deals. I have made a few contacts. I did call the Hotline and tell them that NVREA was doing things that BP states on their site as what not to do. He told me that it is like a college education I would be getting. (My husband and I each have our B.A. and it did not cost us that much.) He did not pressure me to do the bus tour, but at the same time they are not educating me on what to do for the almost 6.7k I have put down.

My husband and I decided to keep the forum for the contacts but we just can't afford the bus tour. I am going to buy some of the books recommended on this site and study hard. I am so ready to start. I think the only thing that is paralyzing me right now is the creative financing. I need to learn how that works. NVREA recommends getting seed capital from credit cards to get skin in the game but this site does not. I may have to do that just to start off until I flip one or two. I know this sounds crazy but we were recommended by NVREA to go through a company called Seed Capital who is helping us get credit cards for our business. Now that I look back on it, it is probably foolish to pay someone to do it but we were recommended to do it. Ultimately it is my own fault for not thinking it through enough. I am just going to have to make the most of it. Make my mistakes a learning lesson.

Thanks for caring. If you have any wisdom you would like to share, I welcome it. Thanks again!

Also, I am getting 4 one hour wholesale classes included in the down payment. I did the first one so far and they basically told us to find five realtors. I have found four so far, and they are already sending me distressed lists. I have found a deal that I thought was good but when I called the Hotline, they deterred me from getting it because I do not have the knowledge. Part of me agrees that I do not have the knowledge but they did not encourage me to do anything with the property. We discussed getting comps but I would have thought he was going to mentor me on maybe how to wholesale the property since he was the one teaching the wholesale class. Then I read on this site how wholesaling is basically birdwatching and it not that profitable.

I'm moving on. It is not that NVREA is bad, but people really need to know there are other options out there. I am sure people learn a lot on these bus tours and I am sure they are fun. But are they necessary. I don't think so. Plus after you do the bus tour then they get you to do private mentoring which also costs money. Then its courses on flipping commercial and so on. The good thing is they led me to this site! Amen.

Leesburg, that is nice. I used to go out there all the time. My family used to live in Herndon and we went to Cornerstone Chapel many years ago. I got involved with a guru and I am talking with my husband about leaving the expensive group. I am curious. Are you also a real estate agent? I am reading and hearing on this site that they highly recommend getting my real estate license.

I am reading so much on this site that contradicts what I am being taught. How sad. I have not paid the 30k but I have put a good size deposit that I will not get back. Plus I got plane tickets to go out to CA. I feel like an idiot. Anyways. I will have to wipe the dust off my sandals, see it as a lesson learned, and move forward. Thanks!

I hear on BP to go for the deals and jump in with two feet but I am being taught by a guru to wait to do any flips until I do the bus tour. They say I will make mistakes that they can help prevent but I am afraid that spending $30k on a bus tour is my biggest mistake. So confusing. I can see why people get paralyzed.

I am originally from Boston, MA. My husband and I have lived up and down the east coast. Our goals are to be financially taken care of by doing real estate deals such as wholesaling, flipping and rental properties. This is something I have always wanted to do and now that our kids are a little older, we have the time to do it. I can't wait to get our first deal.
