Thank you every one for taking time to reply. I appreciate your input. HOA cost is $100/month and there are no amenities. Subdivision is Scofield Farm Meadows with idea homes.

Tom Parris, if you can pass on the information, it would be great.

Hello all,

We are looking to buy a condo in Austin area for us to live in for the next 5-6 years. But the condo price is $350k for 2000 sq ft. Not sure if it retains the value over a period of 10 years.

We are also looking to buy existing SF homes with reasonable price. Nothing is available for $350k unless it is 25 yrs old and in need of some repairs.

We are now confused about whether to go for an existing old house , which will be around 20 yrs old or a new condo? What do you think is the better investment over a period of 5-10 years?

I know no one has crystal ball, but appreciate your feedback and any input.

Thank you!

Bill,

I didn't run any camps to purchase the condo, i am just asking a general opinion as in a state like Texas, do the condos make the right investment choice over others like SFR, duplex.

Please pardon my ignorance if i kept repeating the same.

Thanks,
Prasanna

Don,

These are the condos in Cat hollow to be specific , 1 bed 1 bath to 2 bed 2 bath in the range of $130k - $140k. I haven't seen the property yet, but thnking aloud here to see if condos are a good investment here in Texas where there is plenty of land unlike east coast. I am not sure, if these condos need any repairs too.

Hope this helps to answer my question.

Thanks,
Prasanna

I am a novice here and would like to know your opinion about buying condo/town home for investment in Austin-Round Rock metro. Recently i came across some listings for Condo and wondering if they are the right ones for investment.

Thank you for taking time to read my post and your reply.

Prasanna
