I am currently about to close on a multi family unit with an FHA loan. But I really want to stay living in the suburbs. I'm sure plenty have done it before where they got the loan but live somewhere else in the first year. What do I do to get around that? Simply change my address to the fha loaned building & put some utilities in my name? Maybe find a private renter in the suburbs that takes cash so my name & credit isn't on paper that I'm living somewhere else? Is this whole thing a bad idea? I know the FHA aren't the FBI and very rarely check if the person is actually living there. People in my predicament: how did you go about this?

@Brie Schmidt thank you! This is a great site and You’re all very helpful. I will contact Mark at least a week before I close so we could discuss everything. A PM will help me a ton - could certainly save me some headaches. Especially since my goal is to purchase some more prosperities within the next 2 years

@Jonathan Klemm you’re absolutely right. If you think about it no one is really alone in real estate.

@John Warren for some reason when I click on their names nothing happens. Do they have a contact info? Or maybe if they reply to this post then I can see their profile, not sure.

@Paul De Luca I read those articles as well. I think I may hire a management company. Any recommendations?

I read these articles as well. It is a promising location for the next 10 years. I’m a newbie investor, female, and doing it all on my own so my biggest fear about the location is having troublesome tenants that may try to take advantage of me. Im thinking of hiring a management company to help me out. Any recommendations?

Somewhere between Augusta blvd & north avenue.( Maybe around Hamlin & division. ) properties are cheap because the area is not the best, a bit of a sketchy neighborhood. BUT I see a lot of potential in the next 10 years in west Humboldt. Any thoughts on this area? Also looking for a basement (doesn’t need to be finished, I can put in the work and time) to get it rented out as well.
