Post: Becoming a RE Appraiser

I'm a banker but i'm looking into becoming a RE Appraiser instead. I'm trying to learn as much about it as I can. What steps would l need to take to start the process in SC (or anywhere).

I know I've seen that the first step is a trainee, but do I just look for someone to train me or are there positions that have me as a trainee so I can earn while I build up my hours?

Also, what's the life like? It seems like you can make a goooood living if you're willing to put in the work.
