Hey BP Community!

I have another question regarding the organization of your contacts. I've started to reach out to people in my state that are involved or are going to be involved in the Real Estate Investing business, and wanted to see if anybody had tips and tricks on how to track the contacts you come across. I have a tendency to lose business cards and like to transfer info to spreadsheets as soon as I get a physical business card. Are there any particular ways people have of organizing these contacts?

Also, I'm attending my first REIA meeting this Thursday and I would love feedback from you all on how to get the most out of it.

Hey BP Community!

I just had a quick question before I head to work. Is it worth it to get a career in Real Estate solely with the intent to head off on your own once you've gained the skills/connections necessary to flip a house?

I'm asking because it's an option I'm considering but I'd like to see if anyone has any experience with going this route, how it has worked, and what the pros and cons have been.

Thanks!

Hello everyone!

I just spent the past 27 hours of a cross country road trip binge listening to the first 27 BiggerPockets podcasts, and wanted to come here to say. I'm hooked. I wanted to post this introduction earlier, but the app was a little wonky with uploading a mobile picture from the phone, and wanted to appear as professional as possible when putting my name out there.

My name is Sean, and I am a 23 year old living in Hopkinton Rhode Island. I graduated with a BS in Business Management last May, and have since hopped between a few jobs, failing to find anything that I could be really engaged in.

When my stepfather suggested that I get into a real estate deal with home upon moving back home (was in San Diego for about 6 months) I agreed to the idea, thought about it, and did a little research. BiggerPockets was the result of the research and I have since been taking in as much information as I possibly can.

My long term goals are to run a successful real estate company with broad exposure to different types of deals in several markets. If they exist, I'd like to incorporate strategies that insulate my assets against the potential threat of economic collapse, although I realize losses are inevitable.

Short term I'd like to flip my first house. Whether I turn a profit or not is not too big of an issue. I'd like to partner up with a friend who is also a recent graduate, former marine, and who has greater personable skills to complement my operational knowledge (developing procedures and guidelines in order to make consistently well informed decisions).

I have a pretty considerable appetite for risk. I'm willing to gamble a loan on a house with little to no skin at the game at first. My biggest issue is finding that capital, especially given my relatively low utilization of credit and inexperience in the market.

I'm excited to get started on my research and actionable steps and am hoping to hear from you all!
