Post: Real Estate Agent Before Investing?

Hello all,
I am wondering if in your opinion it is worth the time and money to get my RE license and become an agent before I start investing (or if its realistic to invest on the side after licensed)?
In NH it is fairly easy, its a 40 hour course for $349.
I want to pursue REI as a career but dont want to jump into it if im not yet ready. I feel being agent would give me a good foundation and hopefully some good mentors. I am just tryin to weight my options as im young and very eager to start a career in RE. I would like to get out of my current job and start doing something in the field I love and want to do for a career.
Another question I have is about how long after I get my lisence and hired by a RE company can I start to make money?
All opinions and advice are welcomed and appreciated!
Thanks you,
Sean Ebert

Thank you both! I have been and will continue to read everything I can. I am interested in wholesaling to get started because I don't have that much money to start out. Down the road I would love to do some flipping and buying and holding. What kind of investing are you in?

Thank you again

Hello all,
I am looking for any local REI that is located near Nashua, NH or just in the Southern NH area. I am new to RE and want to start a career in REI. Although this forum is amazing, I would like to personally meet with an investor (lunch will be on me). I understand people are busy but if you have any free time it would be greatly appreciated. I am very eager to learn the business and look forward to hearing from you.

If you are interested just respond to me thread and I will give my contact info.

Thank you!!

Thank you both for the advice. I do plan on finishing school at least for my two year degree and possible go on for my four year. This degree will help me obtain some good education on possible owning my own business.

Hello all,
I am new to BP and new to RE world. I am a motivated 20 year old going to school part time for business management and working two part time jobs. I would like to one day start my onw business (hopefully in RE). I have recently realized i have a big passion for real estate and for the past couple months i have been reading everything i could on real estate, investing, and financial literacy, one of my favorites was "Rich Dad Poor Dad" by Robert Kiyosaki. i have been trying to save up as much as i can so i can try and get started in RE sooner rather then later. Already having some taste of the "corporate life" i am already sick of it and want to pursue RE to hopefully make some serious money down the road.

I live in Southern NH and would like some advice on a good way to get out in the field and more hands on. I have been debating on taking a real estate licensing course but not sure if its worth it since you dont need a license for REI. I would love to get a job in the field to learn the ropes if you will, but im not sure what i could get in the area especially with no licenses and no experience. I am very interested in starting out with wholesaling or flippin/rehabbing. I would like some info on some seminars in the area or other ideas to get out and learning about RE.
I cant wait to get starting on my RE career and look forward to any advice offered.
Thank you in advance!!

I am a newbie in the real estate business with no experience and am very interested in wholesaling. One apect of wholesaling i dont entirely understand is how you put the property under contract and what contract do you use? Also when making a deal do you tell the seller that you are wholesaling it to another buyer?

Hello all,
I am new in the real estate business with pretty much no real estate education other than some books i have been reading. I am very interested in wholesaling and evenually hopefully investing. I have been debating on buying an online course but have heard you can obtain most information online or through books for free or much cheaper. I would appreciate some information that you would feel useful for me to get starting in my real estate career. Also some information on wholesaling, i understand the basic concept of it but could use a more elaborate step by step process to follow. I would appreciate any information on good book internet resources, online courses (if you think it is worth the money), or personal stories. Is wholesaling a good way to get into the RE business? I appreciate any advice!

Thanks You in advance!
