Hi,
My name is Scottie I am a recent (2020) college graduate currently working as a mortgage loan processor at a multi-national bank. I am looking to transition into becoming a mortgage broker but do not know where to start. My goal is to open up my own mortgage brokerage. The reason I am writing this is to seek advice on what next steps I should take.
Should I stay at my job and continue to learn processing? Should I start applying to local mortgage brokerages to gain experience and learn as much as possible? Do I get licensed, learn as much as I can and open my own brokerage (learn as I go)?
Additional questions for experience brokers:
What can I expect out of a career as a mortgage broker?
What type of work environment can I expect?
What skills are needed to be successful as a mortgage broker?
The main reason I am trying to become a broker is because I am looking for a fulfilling career where I can help people, build something and do not have to sit at a computer screen doing mindless tasks for 8 hours a day.
Does the above sound realistic?
