Post: How essential are TVs in AirBnBs?

I recently stayed at an Air bnb and they had a TV and it was TINY and also the box was kind of hard to work.  I remember thinking "as much money as they are making off of this, you think they could invest a little in a TV". I still gave them a great rating but its nice to have a TV when unwinding for the night or in the background when getting ready to go out.

@Jon Huber Looking forward to finally attending! I’ve always had a conflict since moving down to South Florida a couple months ago. I signed up for one on Meetup and quickly realized it was a sales pitch.

Post: Would you invest in 401k instead of invest in real estate?

I am currently trying to figure out my investment mix as well.  One thing I wanted to clarify (and now make the decision even harder!)...some have commented on this thread that the 401k investment basically limits you to retirement at 65 or at least the access of those funds until 65.

One thing to note is there is an exception called the SEPP rule (Substantially Equal Periodic Payments) It almost sounds like it was written for those that want to retire early.  Basically you can withdraw money without penalty so long as you do consistent, long-term withdrawals (like you would in retirement). You have to take money out every year until you turn 59 1/2 and for a minimum of 5 years.  Depending on your age it has to be like 4% / yr.

Not trying to persuade one way or the other, but wanted to throw that out there so people know.

Hi @Rita Medeiros, looks like I will be moving down next month. Do you have any information on good meetups?  Thanks!

Hi all!  So I've read a few books and listened to most BP podcasts, and finally decided to create an account to check out the forums as well.

I am 31 years old, currently renting in Orlando, Florida. I recently had a final interview for a position in South Florida (where I grew up). If I get the position, I will be moving down there and if not, probably staying in Orlando a bit longer.

When my job situation shakes out I want to start real estate investing.  Ideally, I am thinking of house hacking a multi-family property and then growing a portfolio of long-term or short-term rental properties.  If I move to South Florida, will probably be looking in the Fort Lauderdale, Dania Beach, Hollywood area.  Definitely interested in joining some meet-ups.

Excited to join and looking to learning from many of you!
