Post: Sail into Real Estate

I am trying to put together a Cruise networking event for real estate investors. The cruise is a 4 day trip out of Charlton SC to Nassau. I would like to know some ideas of who the BiggerPockets community thinks would be a good speaker. I am hoping to find two speakers that would be willing to speak for 1 hour each about real estate and how they became successful.

My question to the BP community is, Who would you be willing to pay to go see?

just looking for ideas right now but I am willing to talk terms if there is someone interested.

    This business is Criminal, I was consistently called following an inquiry about using their service. When I finally agreed after being told they could work fast and meet my time constraints, I paid their extremely high deposit of $1625. When I contacted them after putting my property under contract. December 21, 2021. I got scheduled for the Kick-off call on December 29, 2021. That call consisted of 30 minutes of apologizing for not contacting contractors, because of the holidays and COVID, promising to start on January 3, 2022.

    I am an investor and need to start as soon as the property closes. They said they would need 2 -3 weeks before they could get me a contractor.

    I went through a different company on January 30. 2021 and had 4 appointments and a GC the same day. The company I am talking about only needed a $325 fully-refundable deposit.

    After days of begging and being ignored, I was able to get a $500 refund.

    Basically, I paid Buildzoom $1,125 to schedule a 30-minute apology call.

    @Keith Amado

    Thank you for the post. I just learned that. I was doing my own estimates, I have come to realize I may be a little light on the estimates but I also left a lot of meat on the bone. so I expect I have wiggle room.

    thank you @Evan Polaski that was exactly what I was thinking. hearing it from someone else helps.

    I was planning on a full gut and remodel. So based on your comment is 60k too small for a remodel?

    Hello BP I have pulled the trigger and have this deal. I am terrified that I could be making a mistake. On one shoulder I have "you can never get started, without action" on the other I have "you will lose all your money"

    What are the thoughts of those that have done deals? Is anyone experienced in Durham NC?

    Has anyone ever done a deal with the owner of a property? I have an option contract to protect me from the owner selling after I start renovations. Has anyone ever done a deal like this? Any recommendations.

    I am headed out to meet an OFC potential lead today. What are some of the points an investor should be considering when talking to this kind of owner?

    This is a cold lead so I know very little I am researching the property online and looking for the person on Facebook so I know a little walking in to the meeting. What are some of the thoughts from the BP community?
