Hey! :)

I am looking to narrow in on a Market for buying and holding, and would really appreciate any advice.

Looking to house hack a two or three family house. I'd likely need to change jobs to make this happen once I aquire the loan, since I currently work in NYC. I'd like to start working in construction, as I feel it's my "in" to obtaining more houses in the future. I have a wife and child, so it's important to live in a safe place.

Currently, I can get approved for about 250K if it's a two family house that generates $800 from the second unit.

Here's what I'm currently looking into or considering:

Hartford and Waterbury Connecticut.

Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Philadelphia

Catskill Mountains

I am looking for info these locations from an investor standpoint, as well as obtaining a job in construction.

Thanks,

I am currently looking to house hack a duplex in Waterbury Connecticut. It will need a significant amount of rehab. What are some of the best ways to check the after repair value?

@Monique Jeffries, Thanks. I think I have a bank who will work with me on an FHA 203K Rehab, but if that doesn't work out I might revert back to a bridge loan. Thank you for the great info!

@Christopher Phillips Thanks for the great info! I would most likely need an FHA 203K Loan. What additional fees would I be looking at? How would I go about calculating the upfront and monthly premium cost?

Hey good evening :)

I've been receiving conflicting info on the FHA fees, or maybe I'm just confused. Is there an upfront cost as well as well as a monthly premium? How are each of them calculated?

I am currently looking into a house hack opportunity in Connecticut. The loan would probably be about $200,000. What would be the breakdown in cost? (In reality, the purchase price is about $150,000 with another $50,000 in construction. I understand construction loans have a whole different set of rules, but I'm trying to keep it simple, to better understand the FHA fees.)

Thanks for your time!
