Post: Getting Referrals for a Business Through Real Estate

Hey BP friends,

I recently became VP for Sales for an authorized Home Security Dealer, aka a company selling home alarm systems.

I want to see what the real estate community would think if they were approached by a Home Security Company to make a referral partnership?

Basically asking for new home owner referrals of clients they worked with, in return if they sign up for home security with us they’d get paid a commission.

As a Real Estate Agent what are your thoughts, how would you like to be approached?

Mortgage Lender/Broker?

Builders?

Contractors?

Having earned some money now from deals I'm wanting to bank my REI earnings separately from my day job to both track my earning/spending but also maximize my return from cash I earn. I currently use a credit union for my normal banking, but do any investors have any tips about setting up a bank account for a business and/or REI earnings?

The two options I have considered, are high yield online savings accounts (found some with 1.6%-2.3% APY) OR bank with an E*Trade account or something similar to double dip, and have my money in an account with higher interest returns and easy investing/trading options. But I will follow any veteran direction.

@Bill Neves I've come across a few motivated sellers and great deals for mobile homes this past week and haven't been able to get much information on what to do with them. Mind if I pick your brain?

This is called whole-tailing. There's some material on it here and YouTube.

I've been finding great off-market deals for homes in more rural locations. Homes in cities with less than 250,000 populations and a long drive away from major markets.

Are these deals worth putting an offer for? How do I gauge whether it's a location that a buyer would be willing to invest in?
