Hi Jordan! Welcome to you and Aleah both! I third Anson's suggestion about the meetup; that's how my husband and I started meeting so many great people in the area too. We are newbie investors (we currently own one rental property in Tennessee, our primary residence here in Denver metro - Parker to be specific, and are heavily shopping for rental properties in Aurora). We moved here from out of state in 2016, so we've got a lot in common just there. Good luck; you're in the right place. BP is the best!

@Stephen Akindona Thank you! So kind! OT: Do you sing? I think we might have heard you singing in a podcast interview before? If that's you... you have a rad voice!

@Steve S. LOL! Happy to share our experiences with you!

@Mark Alexander thank you! I sent you a DM, and appreciate you touching base! That Cerner project is probably bringing so much revitalization to the community!

Hi All!

I've posted on BP before, but never really introduced myself.

My name is Sara, and my husband David and I are new investors. I joined Bigger Pockets because he was becoming more active on it, and encouraged me to do so as well.

My background in real estate includes our primary residence + 2 SFH's we've recently purchased. Our goal is to acquire 20 total rental units over the next 5 years.

I've made BP forum inquiries re: turnkey investing, different markets (namely Birmingham, Memphis and Kansas City), providers and management companies. THANK YOU to those of you who were kind enough to share your experiences!!! I've made several connections and friends through BP, and I'm so appreciative of everyone's time. BP has been an incredible resource, and a great way to find non-biased 3rd party people.

Some of you warned me with negative experiences you had, saving us a ton of grief... and money. Many of you have shared positive experiences, and I'm grateful for that too.

Regarding the 2 new properties, we've had totally different experiences with each one. Feel free to ask me about them via direct message. One is in Birmingham (still no tenants), and one is in Memphis (tenants moved in before closing).

It's been the coolest; jumping into real estate, learning, growing and starting our portfolio!!!

Thank you all so much; it's amazing to be here! Let's connect!

:) Sara

Post: Turnkey. Am I a wussy?

I'm a wuss then too! Not really thought. It's been so empowering jumping into it. I'm a 100% newbie to investing and have already learned so much. Having a positive experience with both turnkey investments (one more so than the other). Feel free to send a message any time if you're looking for input! And for the record- I agree with what others are saying: it's all about what works for you. If you're a working professional, it could be the right starting point. Good luck!
