@Keith Thompson thank you for taking the time to answer me. Looks like I have some shopping to do. Do you know if all the counties work the same as for finding all the liens on the property. Do I just go on the county's website and find the property and it will show me everything or there's more step to it?

@John Knight thanks John. I tried to do a search yesterday to find all the liens on the property. Looks like I didn't have all of them cause mine wasn't showing. All there was, were his taxes due for this year. Anyway, I'll keep digging and also try to find an experienced lawyer in tax liens.

@Account Closed Well, it seems like it works about the same way in CT. My problem is that I have a couple of  liens worth 250-300. If I spend a non refundable 300$ for a notice, what's the point of me getting into the process. There's no way, I will end up with the property unless it's worth nothing. So I'll probably get back what I spent to get my money. Kinda stuck here. Thanks for your answer

@John Knight I thought I had to make a move just before the redemption time is up. Back home, I can see all the lien within 2 minutes of any properties but to get that info for homes in west haven, not sure where to go. Do you have a link about it? Also, were you satisfied with your lawyer? If so, can you refer him to me?

@William Joseph They are in the city of West Haven. From what I see on google map, it's a nice little home, well maintain(well at least a few years back). About the fees, I've been told that before I start the process of foreclosure, I can have an attorney send a letter to the owner to see if it's gonna make him pay what he owes. It will cost 250$ but it's not refundable apparently. Not sure if I have the correct info. So if you do have lawyers who have experience in tax lien, foreclosure, I'd gladly get in contact with them. Thanks

Hey everyone,

I need help here. I purchased a bunch of tax liens, all in the county of West Haven in Connecticut through REI Holdings. I want to get my money back on a few of them cause I have a 15 year time frame to act on it and they are due by January 2018.

I'd like to know what would be the best way to go about it. I talked to a rep at REI Holdings. As they told me before I bought them, they can take care of everything but they never mentioned to me that I would need to send 3000$ as a retainer for the lawyer to start the process of foreclosure for each and every one of the liens I own.

Not sure if I absolutely have to use their lawyer but if not, what should I do. The lady at REI couldn't tell me, out of 3000$, how much are not refundable. The liens are low so I don't want to spend more money than what's owed to me.

Did anyone of you go through the process and can guide me?

Thank you
