@Shayne Brescia,

Great to meet you and thanks for reaching out! For a first house, I'm generally hoping to house-hack. Ideally a townhouse where I can rent out a basement unit while living in the upstairs unit with a few roommates. I'm on the fence as to the condition of the house but I'm open to anything without a major rehab for a first go-round. I'm currently putting together an offer for the house that I rent now as I think my landlord is fed up with it but we'll see where that goes. As for price range, ideally I'd want to operate between $400,000-800,000.

Anyways, feel free to keep me in mind if anything comes in your pipeline!

P.S. I went to your website and the homepage looks good, but I kept getting server errors when trying to see other pages.

Best,

Sam

Brazil -- Thanks for the input! The challenges are definitely real. I'm willing to take my time to find the right fit, and luckily I have a bit of a hometown advantage since I grew up here and have friends who are realtors who can help advise me as I delve deeper and run numbers. Furthermore I have a broad network of friends and family that may have some off-market opportunities. Anyways, I hope you were able to close on some of those offers! Have a great day.

Hey All,

I'm excited to be here to start my investing career in real estate! Born in DC and raised in DC/Alexandria, I've saved enough to start looking for a place to buy. Specifically, I'd like to find a townhouse or something similar to live in and rent out in the following areas (including but not necessarily limited to): Columbia Heights, AdMo, Petworth, Shaw areas. Eventually, I'd like to start my own investing company, but first things first. I look forward to getting to know those on Bigger Pockets!
