Hello Bigger Pockets Family,
My Name is Sam. Im a 23 year old MBA student living in Queens NY (I'll be 24 in August). I have always been drawn to Real Estate. My grandmother (Abuela as we call her) has been an investor ever since she came from Cuba and had some money to rub together. Since then she's bought and sold many properties where they live down in Houston. Her success and motivation have inspired me to get into this business. I have learnt a few things about business in my short life and especially in my education, but Im a firm believer that I know less than I think I do and there is always more to learn. This is why I have joined the BP community.
Im here because I want to learn. I want to amass as much knowledge as I can and soak it up like a sponge. I have listened to a few of the podcasts and I have purchased some books but there is so much to digest and learn. I hope to find a few things by posting here.
1) I would love to find people in the field who may want to pay their knowledge forward and give tips to a young hungry investor from their wealth of knowledge, skills and abilities. Maybe someone who wants to show me the ropes. Reading some of these forums and listening to the pods, it seems there are so many kind people who are generous with their time and information and would like to help.
2) Im hoping to find people who will see my passion and want to invest in me. When I get this off the ground, I hope to fully immerse myself in this business. I have high goals and aspirations to build a successful business and finding people who want to be a part of that would be amazing. I am an extremely kind caring and loyal person. When someone does me a kindness, I spend every effort to repay them. I have no doubt that WHEN we become successful, we will pay it forward again and help the next kid like me.
3) Finally, Id love to find a community of people to learn with and share ideas. Knowledge is best enhanced through scrutiny and debate. When experts are debating issues and ideas, they become stronger. I would love to learn and grow from the community of investors on BP. If there are in person meetings, I would love to attend. If there are classes or summits, I would love to join! I want RE to become not only a career but a passion.
My family is supportive. But, they are risk averse. They tell me to go the traditional route and work under some company and build it the long way. I would do that if I had too, but my dream is to run my own company and build a business for myself and my family that I can be proud of. I'd love to start in house flipping but Im open to all idea and avenues. There is profit in every industry if you work hard enough and have the desire to attain it. Im eager to meet everyone here and hopefully make many good friends! If anyone wants to help I would be eternally grateful, especially if you're here in NYC or tristate area. Im looking forward to working with everyone and getting to know you! Hopefully we all make some money and help change the world and peoples lives, one property at a time!
