@Scott Schuetz Ya darn right!  I'm swamped until next Tuesday, hopefully you'll have a little time at the end of next week to chat.  Hope you're riding your moto this week!

Hey @Will B. I'm also looking to purchase some BRRR in Melbourne and Brevard. Although I'm from CA so I still need to take a trip out there before I can pull the trigger on anything.

@Justin Morgan, don't worry, we still had a fantastic time!  There were plenty of opportunities to dry out, and even when it was showering it was still beautiful. Also, how often do people get to see waterfalls in Arches and Zion? You're neck of the woods is beautiful!

Hi @Kevin Edwards, it's nice that we're in the same boat together!  If you ever want to chat let me know, it would be good to talk with someone in the same place (physically and metaphorically) as me.

See ya around,

Sam

Hey @Larry Fried, sorry for the delayed response, I just got back from camping in Southern Utah. It rained every day for 9 days straight, in the desert!  We even saw some snow and hail!

I checked out your website and I really like what you do and how you do it.  My interest in Eugene is mostly that I think the price is relatively affordable (or maybe my sense of normal is just completely skewed), and that I have enough of a semi-local (Portland) network to manage and rehab if necessary.  All that being said, I'm certainly open to other ideas.

I was thinking about flying up to Eugene tomorrow to spend a few days getting to know the area better, any chance I could buy you lunch or a beer?

Thanks @Will Chamberlin!

Yeah, going out of state is certainly something I've been thinking of very seriously. I think there's still deals to be had near us, but not many. I had almost written off our area completely until I found what looked like a smoking price on a SFH, also my network here is pretty solid for rehabbing.

I'm about to head off for a long awaited vacation, but I'll swing by the clerk's office when I get back. I'm at the civic center about once per week so it's easy for me to just do it in person (attorney).

I noticed you invest in Syracuse, I'd love to hear more about your experiences over there.

Thanks!

Sam

@Jo-Ann Lapin Don't I know it's expensive! It's definitely a bit of a stretch, especially considering I'm making a modest expansion in my day job too. I'm looking at Southern Marin, mostly Fairfax, San Anselmo, San Rafael, Mill Valley, and Sausalito. Do you have properties in the area? My preferred strategy is BRRRR.

@Chris Mason When I checked out the property, I chatted with the next door neighbors for a good while.  They told me that it was owner occupied, and that the current owners still live there.  Do you still think it's worth finding where the mortgage bill is being sent?

Hi Everyone!

I've been lurking on the site and listening to podcasts for a couple months, and I'm really getting fired up to purchase my first investment property this summer.  Currently my only experience is purchasing my primary residence, although I have flipped two boats in the past.

My plan right now is to purchase my first investment property this summer, preferably near where I live in Marin County.  My alternate plan is to purchase either a single-family or smaller multi-family in Eugene Oregon.

Yesterday I found out the single family next door to house I grew up in is in pre-foreclosure, and in serious need of a rehab.  I tried knocking on the door yesterday but nobody was home, so I left my info with the family currently living in the house I grew up in.  If don't hear from the homeowners by tomorrow, I'm going to give knocking on the door a second try and leave a note.

Excited to be here and to purchase my first REI!
