Post: Average cost for property management

Hello,

I'm starting to look into renting my SFR and not sure yet if I want to self-manage or not.

If I choose to go with a property management company, what should I expect in terms of cost in Oakland?

Thank you in advance.

Thank you @Account Closed. I'll let you know what direction I start to go in as I continue to learn, crunch numbers, etc.

Thank you for the warm welcome and the resources.

Again, just getting started thinking about all of this but what's on my radar now is to build a portfolio with enough cashflow to transition from my desk job to managing those properties myself. Not looking for a "get rich quick" situation, but to build something that I can fully transition to within the next 10 or so years.

Thoughts that have gone through my head recently as starting points:

1. Du/quadplex investment somewhere outside of immediate SF Bay Area so it's more affordable.

2. Downsize from my current SFH to a condo or smaller house, and rent the current house.

3. Multifamily investment outside of California, but not sure if that would even be an option. Starting to read on tax implications, the reality of having a property I have to rely on management companies to run, etc.

Again, looking forward to learning more and hopefully at some point start contributing to the discussions here as well. Thank you again.

Hello there BiggerPockets community.

I'm a new investor starting to explore real estate investment.

I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, and like many who live here, trying to figure out how to get started in building my real estate portfolio considering our booming RE prices. Excited to be a part of this community.
