Thanks for the reply. I was hoping folks has suggestions because I kept running into dead ends because the physical bank location of the online bank platforms need to be in the state to follow the rules for MA.

Hi all,

In MA, my understanding is that landlords have to hold security deposits in a bank within the state that is interest bearing. The one I've been using requires me to go into the bank to sign with each tenant turnover.

Does anyone have a bank or strategy where they don't have to do to the bank themselves?

Thank you!

@Kevin Sobilo Thank you!! We are very aligned in our thinking. I appreciate your suggestions on how I can work with my tenant :)

Thank you! It's true that there are alternatives she can explore but it's not my responsibility to figure those things out for her. And yea...if she's already living paycheck to paycheck then "catching up" is also not likely.

Hi all, I have a tenant who is really great. She just got notice that she's getting laid off from her job in December. She's not sure how the job search will go and might not be able to pay her rent in January. Does anyone have experience working with tenants to pay rent who can suggest some payment strategies or other thoughts about what I should do? Thanks!
