@Brooke Wilson

Brooke thank you ! We plan to start looking for a house around June. I’d love to connect with the lender and ask questions just in case something we really like pops up. Also, I’d be able to rent my current home for 1,300. Mortgage is 970 with taxes and insurance.

@Preston Porter

Thank you Preston. I will look into this today. I really appreciate your advice. When we bought back in 2017 we did not have kids. So we bought the 3/2. Now we have two kids and want more space. I will check my VA eligibility and DTI.

Thank you !

@David Kelly

Hello David, thank you for responding. My current home was purchased for 170,000 in kern county, CA with no money down. My understanding of the VA loan is that it has to be completely paid off to get another loan. Is this not true. We would be looking for another home in to 250-280 range.

Hello, I currently live in a 3/2 home financed on a VA loan. My wife and I have 2 kids 3/1. We need more space maybe a 4/2 or 4/3. Would it be smart to refinance out of the VA loan into a FHA loan. Live in it for a year or so, then use my VA eligibility again to buy my family home. The home I am currently in would become a rental. Is this a smart way to get into the real estate investment business? The cheapest 3/2 rents in my city at 1300.
