Hi, my name is Ryan. I'm at a bit of a cross roads in my life. I really want to be a real estate investor and property owner. I have a lot of passion for it. Long story short I grew up on a farm, worked everyday all day there until i was about 20. In the past two years I've worked at two different jobs and have been recently laid off as this last job was seasonal. So I've been trying to decide what path to take to reach my real estate goals.

I have 3 directions i could go and I'm looking for advice from my fellow BP investors.

1) My first thought is i should just find the highest paying job i can get to be able to raise the capital i need for my deals regardless of how unenjoyable and time consuming it is.

2) my second thought would be get a job with a construction/remodeling company. I feel like i would enjoy that the most as i like working with my hands and fits my abilities better. I could learn a lot that i could use towards doing BRRR's and just general maintenance of rental property to save money.

3) my third option would be find a job somewhere in real estate. This ones a little more open ended but maybe getting a job as a property manager or try to get a job elsewhere in the industry. A job where i could just focus on learning real estate all day everyday as well as build connections for future. Being paid to learn essentially. (any suggestions to other jobs in the industry is welcome)

I'm just looking for some advice. I know there's no right answer here but maybe someone can give me some insight on their lives and help me decide what to do. Thank you in advance, anything helps!

@Philip Davidowsky

Hi philip. Yes I am just starting out but I’m not far from making my first investment. I have several off market leads I’m pursuing as either brrr’s or flips depending on which one I end up making a deal on. It’s awesome to connect with someone else in the area as well!

@Craig S.

Hi Craig. Nice to already connect with someone in the area already! Would love to chat in the near future as I haven’t made any investment yet and being only 22 I have lots to learn. I grew up in Ithaca but am open to investing in any and all finger lakes areas as there is so many different niches. But I will definitely reach out at some point so look for my message! Thank you

@Dan Guenther

Thank you! I spend a few hours every day on here the past few months just learning before I’ve really felt like I could converse with others. I will definitely reach out in the near future!

  1. I’m currently based in Ithaca, New York. Looking to invest in the finger lakes. Investing in real estate would make me a third generation real estate investor in my family. Primarily looking for flips but will jump on a good cash flowing property if the numbers are right.
  2. My goal on bigger pockets is to be a student of the game and learn all there is to learn to pave the way for success. I also want to connect with people in my area as well as others, to learn and possibly partner with In the future.
  3. Fun fact I play in paintball tournaments (speed ball) almost every weekend. Took a bit of a hiatus from it because it is expensive and I’m trying to save money for real estate.
