Post: state taxes on rental income - property in a self-directed IRA

Hi BP Community,

I can't seem to find an answer to the following question: Am I required to pay state taxes on rental income generated from a property held in a self-directed Roth IRA? The property was not financed.

Any insights appreciated.

Thanks,
Ruth

@Nathan Gesner I thought that a property with trees was desirable. Over the years I dealt with many broken tree limbs from storms, constant gutter maintenance from leaves and twigs, regular trimming, and eventually several thousand dollars in one year to remove trees after an insect invaded and killed them (after I spent boatloads of money to maintain them). Now I specifically look for tree-free properties. I love trees...just not on my land. ;)

Back in 2006...

Me: "I'm calling to remind you that your rent is past due."

Tenant: "Oh...yes, I meant to call you! Did you hear about that FedEx plane that crashed today?"

Me: "Um...yes. Why?"

Tenant: "Our paychecks were on that plane. We'll be able to pay you when our employer cuts new checks for everyone."

Points for sheer audacity.

Hi David,

I've used Erick Arriola. He's very responsive. I think his rates are reasonable, and I was very happy with the service he provided.
