@Kyle Hipp - I'm a newbie and this will be my first investment. I will try my best I can but the fact is I don't know much. Can you please share your experience in terms of what specific questions to ask?

Thanks for the tip. All windows are redone in last few years and there are no wood windows anymore.

Phillip, I'm hoping home inspection would uncover any such issues. Any other recommendations?

I came across a nice duplex built in 1885. The owner has done an amazing job keeping up with maintenance. It's very neat and clean and looks very modern from inside. I thought it was 20-30 years old. It also has nice cash flow. I'm not sure if I should be concerned about the age of the property. I will definitely do due diligence by having professional do house inspection as well but I'm confused. I would appreciate any thoughts.

@Chad Urbshott - I'm experiencing the same issue with finding cash flowing properties in and around Montreal. Can you recommend any areas in Florida, or any learning resources for REI in US for Canadians?

Thanks.

I live in Montreal area and from my research the REI opportunities are not great here. Properties are overpriced and for the most part rents are not enough to give you any positive cash flow. I wouldn't count on appreciation because from the chatter around we might already be at peak and due for correction.

Hello everyone,

My name is Rajeev. I live in Montreal, Canada. I have no experience in investing but I always wanted to invest in real estate because the idea of rental cash flow and appreciation is very apealing to me. I came across Bigger Pockets while searching for resources to learn more about real estate investing. I have to say I'm hooked. The podcasts are very informative and hosts and guests are very knowledgable. I hope to gain enough knowledge and courage to do my first deal. Since Canadian real estate is very inflated I'm looking for resources and help in investing in US. Maybe an idea for podcast? Any help, tips, suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
