@Michael Baum - very true, been researching that. Forgive my lack of clarity, though - our STR is in North Carolina, and Savannah would be a dream location to have an STR or MTR.

Will be visiting Savannah, Georgia, in early May and would love to connect with any investors there. I'm an investor who recently launched an STR and am mostly interested in STR/MTR.

Thanks @Derek Criscitiello and @Jordan Lockaby! Agreed, the photos are one of our top priorities to improve.

We had our first booking last week! It came through Booking.com, went great, and we got a 10/10 review. We also just hosted our first AirBNB guests and have another booking later this month.

I'm excited to announce that after 3 months of hard work and lots of back and forth travel, our listing is live! You can view it here.

So far we're just on AirBNB, but we'll add other channels and a direct booking site soon.

Hey @Blake Novotney, it's in Lake Lure. We've visited Black Mountain a few times and love the place, too!

Exciting update on our journey!

We really couldn't find the right property in our price range in the Wilmington and Carolina Beach area, so we shifted gears and started looking at other NC markets. 

We found one in a popular destination spot in the mountains region of NC and moved quickly to check it out and make an offer. Our offer was accepted, everything went smoothly, and we closed a few weeks ago. We are currently doing some minor cosmetic updates and setting it up as an STR.

I'll update when our listing goes live.

@Katherine Serrell - thanks for the input. It is tricky to navigate! We are putting in a lot of effort on that front and trying to speak with the right people in local governments to be sure.

@Brian Rogan - Thanks for the links. That's good news.

I did see that for whole-house lodging, the city states, "A local operator must be within 25 miles and available 24 hours a day." Wonder how we can meet that requirement as potential owners being well outside that radius.
