Post: Flipping a Hoarder House

My husband and I are looking to purchase a hoarders home. It is full of stuff, has been broken into a few times, has a couple of liens from code enforcement and roughly 7,000 in back taxes. I received insider info about the owner being in a a care center now and the only living relative lives out of the area and does not want anything to do with it. What steps should I take as this is the first time I’ve dealt with a property like this? My thought is contact the owner or the relative ask if they are willing to sell and then try to get inside to see the extent of the damage so I can get a good estimate to make repairs? Who would you contact to inspect a house like this?

Hello all!

Just looking for advice on self-managing using online software.

What software would you use for one single family home?

Preferably:

1) Free- since only one unit

2) Able to edit lease for additions

3) Take payment online

Thanks all!

Hello! I just started too and found Avail.co to be very easy to use and takes payments online etc. As a benefit to the tenant it also reports payments to the credit bureau which is kind of cool. I tried SimplifyEm and found it to be not so user friendly.

Hope this helps!

You can always contact the local code enforcement and/or planning dept or building dept.
