Every person who's ever used the rooms hated them. Its just not a functional space for our needs or for anyones needs who had a choice in living there. They've always been kids rooms and my grandparents were very poor so they couldn't exactly afford another house but they have lived there 30 years and it has a lot of meaning to us so I would rather a fix it up and live there myself then see it sold to someone who would probably tear it down.  Somehow my grandprents raised 4 kids there but we can't do it. I was hoping for an idea of price range without having to get a professional to come in. I have about a billion things on my plate right now and adding getting an estimate on to that is not going to happen any time soon bit we need to make a plan because our house is going on the market in about three months.

I don't think that Dormers would really fix this problem  because  it is a lot of unusable space. So that would be a lot of Dormers.  Maybe a giant doormer on one side?  We really just hate how awkward the ceilings are up there and wanted to try and Salvage the house and keep it in the family . It's about 800 st of space that's almost useless.

My grandmother recently passed. She. Owned a home with 2 huge bedrooms upstairs that have slanted celings because of the roof being very steep. We would love to buy her house from my mom but those upstairs rooms are not functional the way they are. They are otherwise very large rooms and there's a lot of attic space up there. What would the cost and process be to get rid of the slopes or at least make them less prominent by raising the roof 3 or 4 feet. As it is a dresser barely fits against the wall because the slant is so low.
