Hello to all, I don't do this to often but I have to post this story of our experience with a real estate group called Mid-Hudson Valley Real Estate Investors Association, located in Poughkeepsie Ny. The reason I'm posting this is to warn people that are thinking of attending this meeting of our bad experiience that we had and continue to have. My wife and I decide to attend this group for a meeting that they have each month located at The Hampton Inn & Suites on route 9 in Poughkeepsie, Ny. We wanted to see if this group would be a good fit for our plans in real estate so we paid the cost to attend 1 meeting, witch was $40.00, then if we thought it was good for us we were going to pay the yearly cost and become members. So we attended the meeting witch was titled Brain Storming, so my wife and I thought we would have the opportunity to discuss the topic of rental properties because that's what my wife and I are doing. So we get there and they have you fill out a form asking for some information about you, name, address, telephone number and what your intrest is in real estate investing. Then they fill out a name tag for you to were so that everyone can see your name. When the meeting started they they went around the room and asked everyone why they were there and we told them but the discussion never came up about what we attended the meeting for. Also there were other people there to discuss there topics but never came up. The person that was running the meeting seem to be more interested in showing slides of pictures of houses he had listed on the wholesale market.
So after the meeting my wife and I decided that this was not for us. We thought it was a waste of our time and money. Now here is another reason I'm posting this, that if you attend this meeting an fill out that form I mentioned earlier in this post here is what could happen to you. We think they sell your telephone number to all these telemarketing company's so you will receive constant phone calls about anything and everything that's being marketed by phone. You will receive these calls all hours of the day and night without end. And when you receive these calls they give you the option to be taken off the list for that company but there are so many that it becomes endless and a real nuisance.
So just be for warned that if your in the Poughkeepsie area and thinking about attending this meeting that this might happen to you. I can not say that it's a fact that this is what they did with our phone number but all the telemarketing calls started right after attending this meeting.
