Welcome, Nelly!  There is a lot of great info on this site.  What is your investment strategy (single family, multi family, buy and hold, flips)?

Gene:

Thanks for the offer. I built a spreadsheet and  I've done a light scrub on 90 units based on Mls data over the last few days.  I noticed that there are some really large tax appraisal value increases (2015 from 2014) in the Leon valley area.  Do you know why tax values would be jumping up over there?  Also, I've been listening to a lot of BP podcasts and I hear "A,B,C" class rating for multifamily investments.  Is there a standard classification system and do you know if there is anyway to tell the "classification" based on Mls data?

For full disclosure, I do have a realator helping me for this first search, and I would understand if you don't answer back.  That said I know different people have varying experience and knowledge, and I'm open to any information I can get.  I'm just trying to learn somethings and Start building a network, so any comment is appreciated.

Thanks,

R. Hale

Hello everyone.

I'm new to Real Estate investing and new to San Antonio.  I am an Engineering Manager for an oil company and have been in oil/gas engineering for a little over 15 years.

I am interested in multi-family investments.  I've been on Bigger Pockets for about 10 days now and have spent a lot of time listening to podcasts, reading articles, e-books, webinars, etc.  This is a great place to learn and get motivated.

I am VERY interested in meeting other investors and people in the business locally. I've recently found a local REIA and another investor organization that I am excited to be joining in January. If you know of any events coming up or want to grab lunch and "talk shop" I'm open for an invitation.

Excited to be here!
