Hello, I am Robert. I am looking to get into real estate investment through working as a real estate agent and working in property management. I graduated from the University of Colorado last spring. I majored in Business Operations and focused on Data Analytics. I came to Houston to be closer to family while my wife had our baby and I accepted a job in sales. I plan to move back to Colorado next summer and obtain my realtors license. I would also like to start a side business of property management. I have looked into it and I think I have the skill set to do very well.

Obviously I need to create experience, so I was wondering if there were any property managers that the need for any help.  I can show properties, list properties, help with books or help locate and reach out to potential clients.

I am even open to working as a free intern if the situation is right and the experience is mutually beneficial for me.

I am also interested in the Texas City market.

So from what I have heard, and again, brand new to this, if I am making money on the first property, it wont count against me.

I am also open to the sub areas of Denver to find a place. I am just looking to get back to colorado.

I am a recent business school grad from the University of Colorado. I came down to Texas to work because I can stay with family and my wife was pregnant, she has since had the baby. So I am not paying any rent. I have some expenses but not too much. I am working to pay off some credit card debt I had from a few years ago due to an unforeseen circumstance with my roommate. My Fico is currently 589, but I am looking to get it up to over 620 soon. I have been using the surplus to pay some of it off.

Once I get into that spot, I am looking to buy a house here in the texas area to rent. Ill likely take my own loan out. I am really just looking for a little cashflow to cover any expenses and hopefully generate a little income.

Next Spring//Summer I would like to move back to Colorado and purchase a 3 or 4 family unit with a VA loan and house hack one of the rooms for myself and rent out the other 2 or 3.

I then plan on working as a real estate agent to make some commision and connections to invest in more homes.

I plan on managing them myself, and maybe hiring a family member or a property manager for the Houston home once I leave.

Anybody see any faults in this plan?

I am trying work each day to get closer from talking about it to actually doing it, but I dont want jump head first into a mistake.

Thanks for any advice.

Post: Working for Networth Reality?

As I have mentioned, I plan on getting my realtors lisince once I move back to Colorado around May of 2017. I am currently in Houston and looking for job in sales, or real estate. I am looking for a job managing properties, maybe as a lease agent for an apartment complex  (second question, do you think that would be helpful for managing my own properties eventually?)

On Craigslist, I stumbled upon Networth Realty looking for people to pitch properties to investors.  This sounds like my dream job and something that would provide great experience.

I looked it up on glass door and it had great reviews, but they all said basically the same thing. Then I saw a review claiming the positive reviews were all smoke and mirrors and that they basically make people go around placing "We buy ugly houses" signs everywhere and it's not very legit

Does anybody have any experience with this company? It's compensation and standard of work?

I have no problem doing hardwork and working long hours as long as I am getting either great compensation or invaluable training and making great connections.

Feel free to MSG privately if you don't want to speak on the forums.

Thank you

Thank you all for the solid advice.

I graduated college last May, although I am 32 ( I spent some time ion the Army) and I am looking to get into real estate investment with some friends from Business School. I haven't established a career yet, but I am really good at sales.

I was thinking about doing real estate while I worked on my investing.

Would I have an advantage if I worked as a real estate agent while trying to purchase investment properties ?

I am currently in Houston, Tx, but want to move back to Denver, Co around May of next year. Not sure If I should start real estate now or wait till I get back.

Currently selling theatre tickets.

Anyways, that's my life story.

Any advice ?
