Awesome, thanks for the feedback @Ivan A.

@Berny Petersen thanks for the information! That sounds like a solid plan.

@Peter Mckernan thanks for the advice. I've been researching groups. AtlantaREIA appears to be a large one here, although based on their marketing and speakers (for example, "Mr. Tycoon" is the name of a regular speaker) I'm looking for groups that appear to be professional and less like a large infomercial. I'm aware of a BP meet up that occurs regularly. I'm open to any other suggestions as well!

Hey everyone! I've been on BP for a little while now and also have been learning everything I can about REI. Finances are in a good position and I'm interested in beginning to look for an initial deal. I'd be grateful for the opportunity to work with someone experienced who can show me the way through the first few transactions, and potentially help them out in their endeavors in the process.

My goal is to start building passive income through buy and hold, both full-time rental as well as potentially vacation rentals at some point down the road. Short term, wholesaling to build up capital is an interest.

I've purchased and sold homes as personal residences, as well as spent time working in the multifamily billing and property management space. My background is in technology, project management, and Internet marketing; I'd be happy to help someone with my expertise in those areas as part of a mentor / learning partnership.

Thanks in advance!

Honest question - I see this "Mr. Tycoon" being advertised quite often by AtlantaREIA. In fact, much of AtlantaREIA's advertising comes off as somewhat suspect to me. Does anyone have any experience with this group? Is it a good place to find people to meet and learn from?

(Maybe this is a question for the Atlanta local forum?)

I want to quickly thank Ashish Acharya for starting his thread as well as all of the answers so far! I'm getting started in REI and learning everything I can. I am considering an agent license, so this is all very helpful.

@Dave Visaya thanks for the information!

Hi @Matt Boettinger - thanks for the invite! I won't be able to make it tomorrow, although it appears that these are the last Tuesday of every month. I'll plan to make the next one in May for sure!

Hey everyone!

I'm new to both BP and REI. I'm kind of a bit late to the game at 39 years old, but better late than never!

I work full time as a technology executive for a healthcare software company in Roswell, GA. I have lived in the North Fulton / South Forsyth county area (Alpharetta, Roswell, Johns Creek, Cumming) for about 11 years, and in the Atlanta area for 17 years.

I have a number of friends and colleagues that own rental property, both locally as well as vacation rentals. I've decided to get off of the sidelines and start learning everything I can to get into the game.

My background in real estate (summarizing from my profile): I've purchased 4 single family homes and sold 3 with the help of an agent, only holding one home at a time, all as personal residences. Earlier in my career, I was in technology management for ista North America Multifamily, which is now part of Yardi Systems. I have done quite a bit of work with property management companies and multifamily property owners around tenant billing and managing property expenses.

Right now, I'm looking to accumulate as much information as possible, network, and begin coming up with a plan for my first REI purchase I can take action on.

Looking forward to being part of the community and learning!
