Thank you @Brandon Turner

I have read through your begginners guide 2 times. Thank you for that! I am heavily leaning to buying a MF Dplx or similar that needs a little rehab and live in one of the units. With what I know and have experience with, I think that will be the best way to get my feet wet. In the mean time, It's all about eduaction. So, definiatly, I will be asking questions and sharing knowledge of the things that I do know myself.

Just do it. Best way is to pick up some wood, a basic set of tools, and build something. Build some shelves, build a bench, then move on to craigslist and sign up for an entry level part time construction laborer. This way, you kind of know what you're doing with basic tools when you step on your first job site. Good luck, once you're on a site, its a storm of learning. Oh, and practice your geometry.

Good Evening!

My name is Robert Kersten V. I am an active duty USCG member and have been in the service for over 10 years now. My career is something that I cherish and I will continue with it for the next 10 years to reach a 20yr retirement. However, I have this fire in my gut to do even more with my life; to be great. Ever since I was a young teen, I have had inkling that I wanted to be heavily involved in real estate. This is most likely because I was surrounded by people in the industry or because I have read extensively as to what solid wealth comes from. Nevertheless, I can’t resist the urge any longer. Now is the time, I am 28 and ready to learn and grow. I have a beautiful wife, a 4year old daughter, and a son on the way. My life is in full motion and I want the next level.

Where I am from/where I’ve been:

1. I am a Nevada state resident from Douglas County.

2. Being in the military I have lived in Louisiana (Near NOLA).

3. I CURRENTLY live in Marin County, California.

4. I hope to transfer to Houston Galveston, TX area next summer.

My association to real estate:

1. My mother was an Escrow Officer for 15+ years

2. Step Father was a Mortgage Broker for multiple companies.

3. Uncle has owned and sold multiple properties for profit.

4. A few friends and family who are RE Agents.

My Skill Set:

1. Management and Supervision from Military Training/Experience.

2. 1 year of Construction Academy.

3. Ran a handyman/home improvement business in Louisiana for 1 year.

4. I have assisted in the construction of 2 custom homes.

My RE Interests:

1. Fix and Flip. (I think I have the Fix part of the skill set down.)

2. Owning Rental Properties. Both single and multi.

3. Maybe one day, contracting and development.

4. Possibly Wholesaling. (Which I know nothing about, just read a little on here so far.)

5. Anything else that would make me a RE EXPERT. I want to get to this point, but how? That’s why I am here.

So there you have it my new friends. I apologize for the looong post, but I really want to get to know some good mentors and possibly partners one day. I am here, young and inexperienced for the most part and my mind is ready to be molded.

;)
