@Scott Krone - Thanks Scott.  I've read Paul's book and was impressed with the investment offerings from his firm.  I've recently placed some capital with him and I'm looking to do more.

I am a passive investor always on the hunt for opportunities to partner with good operators who have a strong track record. Two CRE asset classes that I'm interested in are self storage facilities and mobile home parks. I would certainly be interested to hear from anyone who has had success investing in those areas, and would especially appreciate any comments you can make on operators you've had either good or bad experiences with.

Although I'm trying to increase my asset holding with non-qualified funds, I also have a significant amount of qualified IRA funds (both Traditional and Roth) that I'm looking to invest in these asset classes. In order to avoid UBIT complications, I was hoping to find a good private REIT (preferably open ended or "evergreen") that would allow me invest (and re-invest returns) in these assets without being subject to UBIT. If anyone has any suggestions that I might be able to take a look at, please let me know.

@Matt A. - Thank you for the detailed reply.  It is much appreciated.

I plan to make passive investments through real estate syndications and/or private equity funds that invest in real estate.  The asset classes I'm most interested in are self storage facilities and mobile home parks.  For anyone who has read Brian Burke's book, "The Passive Investor," you know that the most important take away is that the sponsor is more important than the deal itself.  There are a million sponsors out there on sites like Crowdstreet, but I'm hesitant to jump into that.  I'm asking those in the BP community who have had experience investing in syndications or private equity to chime in with recommendations on sponsors / companies that you feel fully confident in.  I'm looking for strong track records through different market cycles.  Although I'm most interested in self storage and mobile home parks, I would also consider multi-family, though I'm less bullish on this asset class considering where we are in the cycle right now.  Any input would be appreciated.

I'm looking for a highly recommended accountant specializing in real estate, self directed IRA investing, alternative assets and tax strategy for using legal entities for long term wealth building. I'll take any lawyer recommendation with similar knowledge as well. Any help would be appreciated.

I am an accredited investor in Huntington, NY looking to lay the groundwork to kick my wealth building into higher gear. I don't currently have a team. Up until this time, I have not needed a lawyer and I've always filed my own taxes. I've now started moving into real estate, and alternative investments such as private equity, syndications, private debt, etc. I've even opened a self directed Roth IRA to start making some of these alternative investments. After over 20 years of more traditional investments in public markets, I have the capital to start getting more aggressive in the areas of real estate and alternative investments. What I need is a good accountant and lawyer to give me the advice I need as I move into this new phase of my investment career. Before I get too far down this road, I want to make sure I have a good plan in place and have set myself up properly. I'm considering the idea of establishing a holding company to hold all my assets and want to discuss whether or not that makes sense for my long term estate planning. I would also like to build a team that will guide me in my goals of being a sophisticated investor. I'm looking for referrals for great accountants and lawyers who would specialize in guiding people like myself. Ideally the person would be located near me, however I suppose that is not exactly a requirement. If anyone has any recommendations for me, please reach out. Thank you for your time.
