Hey everyone, my name is Rick. I have been listening to the Bigger Pockets Podcast for a few years now and I’ve been on fire about real estate ever since. I’ve lurked around the forums occasionally over the past couple of years and haven’t been active, but I’m making it a point to be more engaging to surround myself with like minded people

I’d like to share a bit about myself. I’m 30 years old. I spent the first 12 years of my working life in restaurants, starting at the bottom of the food chain as a dishwasher and working my way up to an Executive Chef position. It was a job of passion, but all consuming so I made the very tough decision to leave the restaurant industry. I took a local government job as a Service Technician a year ago which has given me back so much of my valuable free time. It has been one of the best decisions of my life.

Along the road I accumulated quite a bit of debt in the form of credit cards, student loans and a car payment. At the suggestion of one of my mentors, I read Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey which changed my life in ways I can’t even begin to describe. Not only did I pay off all $30k of my debt in 4 years, I also learned invaluable lessons of discipline, sacrifice and determination. I now have total confidence in my goal of becoming a financially free real estate investor.

I am currently saving for a down payment and analyzing multi-family homes with the goal of house hacking my first property.

My mission is to create the job of my dreams so that I never have to “work” another day in my life and to share with others the knowledge I gain along the way.

Thank you all for taking the time to read my introduction. I’m looking forward to making new connections and contributing to the forum.
