Post: Location Analysis and Resources

Hi ,

I am a newbie in Real Estate investing. I live in Bay area and since the prices here have gone up really high, I am looking for investment opportunities elsewhere. In this process I was trying to zero in on locations/cities where ROI on multifamily rental properties is good and stable with potential uptrends in rent rates and value appreciation

I have shortlisted few cities and would like to analyze the below criteria to decide on ROI

  • Upcoming neighborhood preferably at least a B location with less Vacancy rate
  • Next 5 year economic plan for the location should have good developmental projects (schools, employment, transportation,  major private industry player has plans to invest in the area etc)

What are the resources that I could use to get info on the above? Also are there any up-to date reliable websites  (may be county based government websites) that list the future development projects in a given zipcode/county.

I found http://www.bestplaces.net/housing/city , which gives some stats ( no roadmap  for future development projects though) but looks like this is based on 2014 info.

Hi ,

My name is Revathi Neelam. My background is in computers and tech. I am trying to explore real estate as an investment option. I am looking for help on how to get started, specially pertaining to 2 areas

1) Resources to get the investment basics : Books , videos,  websites, Real estate clubs/associations/community local to bay area (welcoming for newbies), bootcamps etc

2) Resources/Tools to analyze a potential investment :  (Area analysis, Risk/ Returns etc)

Any other additional pointers would also be greatly appreciated.
