Hello.  I am in California and plan to purchase at the trustee sale.  There is equity in the property by about $70,000.  County records show a child support judgement recorded in 1997.  I called the county that has the judgement and was told they can collect on those from even earlier than that.  They can't tell me how much it is or if they would go after it.  Title reps tell me they do not open escrow for trustee sales.  How would I find out, or what resources are available for research on settling those out and finding out how much it is.  The distressed homeowner is close to 80 years old. Thank you.
