@Tenzing Rapgyal Fitchburg was looking for something more affordable that we could make some mistakes on without breaking the bank. We found a property that we could pay cash for that was great structurally, but needed a lot of work and would scare a lot of people not in the profession. Even with very conservative numbers it made sense, so we went for it. We'd been looking in Chelsea, Fitchburg, and Worcester for about 6 months with different strategies for each. This one was too good to pass up so we dove in. 

Chelsea is definitely going up fast. We can only afford to invest there at the moment as an owner occupant because we could put less down and there are benefits offered from the city for 1-4 family units that need work. It's still good to be careful and really make sure you know the areas. Some are going to take longer to improve than others.

@Russell Brazil That's great! We plan to come back to Chelsea for our next multi-family, but want to build up our capital and experience a bit more first, but we love living here. Keep me posted on what you have going on and feel free to PM me. We're probably 6 months out from another investment unless we find a partner on something, but I'd love to keep up to date on what you have going on here.

@Corey Melkonian Chelsea is one of the places to be right now that's for sure. I'm hoping it doesn't get too expensive before we can pick up another property or 2 here. PM me if you ever want to meet up or discuss anything Architectural. Thanks for the Welcome!

Hey everybody! My name is Ashley Owens and I'm a new member to Bigger Pockets. I'm a Licensed Architect and Real Estate Agent in Massachusetts and I'm working my way into investing part time. I still have a lot to learn, but I've been reading like crazy and listening to as many podcasts as I can get a hold of. So far we've house hacked a condo in Cambridge, purchased a 2-family in Chelsea (we live in 1 unit), and just recently (like yesterday) purchased a single family in Fitchburg that we're going to flip. Also if you can't tell from my profile pic, I'm working on my pilot's license. I'm excited to be part of this amazing community and can't wait to hear from other members!
