Post: Legal Advice For Multiple Out of State Short Term Rentals

Hello,

I'm looking for any referrals for a real estate lawyer with long and short term rental experience. In short, I live in Florida and have a mix of STR and LTR (in state and out state) and would like to review them from legal perspective to ensure I have all the proper protections in place. It would be helpful if they have experience in FL, GA and VA.

Thanks!

Mark, sounds like something I'd be interested in further exploring.  Please keep me in the loop on future threads if you decide to move forward.

Just had a chance to catch up on this thread, but really enjoying this one! As a beginner in REI in the NoVa area, I can completely relate to a lot of these posts. It's not easy to get started in this area since, as it's been mentioned many times already, it's hard to get the numbers to work. I've focused a lot of my searches in MD (PG County and Baltimore) and VA (Woodbridge, Manassas, and Stafford), but like the thought of looking NW in VA (ie Winchester).

It's also cool to see people partnering up on deals, like @Jimmy Nguyen and @Mike Hudson about Logan's properties. Not sure if you guys partnered up, but if you did and are interested in a 3rd wheel, feel free to message me directly.

@Ned Carey I'm trying to learn more about tax liens/certificates and came across some of your older posts from last year. Last June you stated that you were going to be speaking in Columbia, MD about tax liens. I'm in VA pretty close to you and was wondering if you regularly speak/teach about tax liens in the area, or if this was a one time deal? If so, will you be doing it again any time soon?

@Joe Fairless I haven't purchased anything yet, but Im really interested in the "buy & hold" method.  However I've been keeping my eyes open for any flip/wholesale opportunities to help me build up some money first.  BTW, I really enjoy your "Best Ever" podcasts!  Thank you for your contribution

Thanks @Mindy Jensen !  Funny thing is that I actually started listening to the podcasts first, and that was what actually brought me the site.  They're also a great source of information

Hello Bigger Pockets community! My name is Eddie and I'm a newbie to BP and REI. I live in the N. Virginia area, just outside of Washington DC and my day job is currently in the IT field, however my end goal is to eventually build up a portfolio of B&H rental properties that will allow me to replace my day job's income with the cash flow. Right now, in the beginning stages, I'm interested in learning as much as I can about any facet of REI (wholesale, notes, etc) and like many others have been scouring the BP forums for all the info I can retain.

I've also been looking into joining a local REIA, and noticed that there are a few different groups in the DC/MD/VA area. I was wondering if there were any opinions out there on any of these local REIA groups in my area? Should I pick the closest one? Join multiple REIA's? Any BP member's in the DC / N. Va area have a better experience at one more than another?
