Start real estate investing by educating yourself, setting clear goals, building a network, understanding your budget, choosing a strategy, analyzing potential deals, starting small, and learning about legal and tax planning. Start with house hacking, buying rentals, flipping, and consult an accountant for tax and deductions.

If you’re looking to invest in your backyard, it helps to network with as many local investors as you can. A great way to start is by attending RE events and joining a local investors association. You can usually find some events by doing a simple google search.

 Networking and talking with everyone you can from a perspective curiosity and how you can add value for them. Write out why you're investing and then map out goals and actions to move toward those goals. Starting with a house hack or duplex hack is a good way to get started and have a place to live.

I'd keep it simple to start. Investing in a buy and hold that provides some cash flow in a appreciating market.
