Hey Matt, I live in Portage right now, have an office in GR, invest in Detroit, Battle Creek, Muskegon, Grand Rapids & Kzoo...I attend REI meetings in Portage & GR when I can, and I'm running my own meetups in GR...

this Tuesday June 23rd there will be a (Kalamazoo Area Rental Housing Association West Michigan) KARHA meeting at Theo & Stacy's, Portage Road (just off 94) starting at 6pm...you can see the website at Karha.com, The topic this Tuesday is Land Bank and upcoming Tax Auction with the Kzoo County Treasurer...

when you join the RPOA or Rental Property Owners Association, https://rpoaonline.org/, I believe that includes the membership with KARHA..like $90/yr

it is about an hr away from you, but I think it's totally worth it if you can attend, every month there is something different to learn and more investors to meetup with.

Hi Gary, that's funny, I didn't recognize you at first...but atleast you recognized me!! I just found your card too! Hilarious...but atleast they 'tabled' my 'dangerous' building for a little bit, I got a lot of work to do on that place, sometimes I wonder did I do right getting into Muskegon, like Mark Elliot said, after I bought my property there, then I've also heard stories about Muskegon officials being corrupt, but I'm still wondering are they corrupt or just looking out for their city...but this is the 1st city that I got a notice for lawn care, that if I didn't get it done, they would charge me $90/hr, and I was like wow!! I hired a gal right away to do my lawn..

So they are definitely trying to get money into the city any way possible, but in a way I guess it's good, lots of cops, getting rid of crime, and as long as we stay on timeline for our SOW, then they are ok with it...I also got mad at Safebuilt because they were telling me what I should be spending on my property saying the estimate I got from my contractors was too low, and I was like, that was what my guys quoted me, they were actually trying to help me so you don't demolish my investment, and those are the numbers i'm sticking too, if my numbers were so high, it's better for me to just not pay taxes, and walk away, you keep it!  But you were at the last meeting, I even brought my guys with me in case they asked questions, and the council didn't say a word.. Guess they were happy with my timeline...Good I didn't say a word either, anyways, hope it all  works out, lots of potential in that area...if this property works out, then I'll definitely get more, but Gary, we definitely should meet sometime for lunch...I have a person for screening tenants, etc, but will still need a property manager, I usually go to Muskegon on the weekends, check on the work progress, then hit the beach, so if you are free one of these weekends, let me know...thx
