it seems appraisers in Florida don’t care if remodels or additions are permitted!!

I am a licensed contractor and pull permits for my remodels. Others in my same areas are NOT licensed and DONT pull permits .. it of course takes me more money and time to do my remodels because of all the hoops I have to jump through with the municipalities.

The appraiser’s always compare my homes to the unpermmited homes evenly. This makes no sense to me. I’ve even called the DPBR and have been told they don’t care if it’s permmited or not on appraisal.

If I can’t beat my competition I’m seriously considering joining them.

Why should I be licensed, pay for insurance and do things the right way with permits if it doesn’t equal greater or at least equal profits.
