Hey Legends,
I am moving to the Ormond Beach area come august and my girlfriend and I are looking to get into the STR, or MTR, business. I understand Volusia County has strict laws with rentals booked under 30 days. However, I have noticed a lot of people come to Daytona Beach for 30+ days. I am curious to hear your experience, success, or failures with mid-term rentals in the are. Occupancy rate looks to be 75% on AirDNA for Daytona Beach, but I am not sure if that is coming from the illegal airbnbs in the area as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi BP Fam,

I am a new real estate investor looking to expand outside my current city, Daytona Beach. I am looking at St Petersburg, Clearwater, and Sarasota. However, it looks like most rentals have to be more than 30 days in St Petersburg, Clearwater, and Sarasota. Are there any areas within these 3 cities that allow 7 days or more? If not, I am curious how the MTR business is as far as occupancy rate goes. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You have a great market in your backyard, why go 4 hours away ?

Daytona and Ormond Beach only allow STR's in a very small area, either on the beach wit condo-tells or 4 blocks of land not on the beach. I prefer to rent out single family homes and not condo's. If you have any suggestions or experience in that area I would love to hear them!

I am moving to Ormond Beach in a few months and looking into getting my first STR property. I was curious if any BP investor has experience with STRs in the Daytona Beach/Ormond Beach area? Daytona Beach does not seem like a popular city when investors talk about STRs.

According to airDNA, the occupancy rate is 74% in Daytona Beach and 76% in Ormond Beach. The barrier to entry to buy a home is low, and has been low for awhile. However, I was curious if anybody had thoughts on investing in a STR there or looking at other places in Florida.
