Post: tenting in Hawaii

I have lived in Hawaii for 14 years. I have suffered thru 2 tentings. 4 years ago I was told that it was required when selling a house that the house HAD to be tented within the last 7 years. My reale state agent insisted I get the house tented that I bought 4 years ago. This time I was told that every house had to pass termite inspection if it wasn't tented 3 years ago. The buyer didn't want me to do it, I didn't want to do it, as I have pets and I knew I'd have to get lodging for at least 24 hours. (due to a rip in the tent it took over 60 hours for us to get back in the house. Of course, no one was responsible for that.) OK, SO what is the real law. And How come if this is mandatory, do I not see many. many, more houses tented? Something about this whole thing isn't right. Can Someone please enlighten me?
